Early Doors - Stream Online for The Christie
Early Doors was a TV hit when the sitcom was originally aired on the BBC in 2003 and gained cult status over its twelve-episode run. The cast took the show on a sell-out tour in 2018 and 2019 and have now released a recording of the live show to raise vital funds for The Christie Charitable Fund.
Written by and starring Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, Early Doors is famously set in a mythical Stockport pub, The Grapes. The actors who feature in the TV series and live show have come together to promote this film for a local charity that is close to their hearts.
“Most of us will have come across The Christie whether that be through a family member, friend or colleague being treated,” said Phil Mealey, “and we all know what an amazing place it is and what incredible work it does. It was an easy decision for us to support The Christie and we really hope this film is a huge success.”
Phil Mealey, who plays cheeky chappie Duffy, added “The raw footage used in the film that we are making available for rental was never intended for release or distribution. The demand to see it is what has driven us to release it for charity.
“It’s been cut from footage projected onto the arena screens during the live tour, but what it might lack in polish and production values, it more than makes up for in laughs and captures the atmosphere and joy the live audience experienced.”
The Christie Charity supports the work of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust providing enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. This includes money for care and treatment, research, education and extra patient services. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie can provide to cancer patients and their families.
